Peter Iiskola 4 juin, 09:24   Finland – EU:s Russia-boycott goes now too far The EU Parliament's retaliatory measures against the new Russian travel bans goes too far, says the Deputy Chairman of the Finnish delegation to the EU Parliament Ms. Liisa Jaakonsaari (social democrat). She believes that EU:s countermeasures are oversized. Her social democratic German colleague Mr. Martin Schulz, who is the President of EU Parliament, has refused two Russian diplomats access to the Parliament. It restricts the cooperation with Russia. The reason is that Russia has banned some euro-parliamentarians travel access to Russia. Jaakonsaari says that a reaction against the Russian black list is justified, but the counter-measures unveiled by Schulz are excessive. - All boycotts and counter-boycotts just deepen the mistrust. This is a bad twist. Counter-measures taken by Schulz freeze the activities of the Russian delegation, as the co-operation between the EU Parliament and the Russian Duma can no longer continue. Russia condemns EU Parliament countermeasures. Foreign Ministry spokesman believes that "European bureaucracy" operation resembles a witch-hunt.
